The Myth of "Temporarily Restricted"

Click here to download and read a summary of vestry minutes in the 1990's into the transition period that show how readings of minutes from 1945 were misinterpreted, creating a perception that the Vestry had the authority to use donor restricted funds for other purposes. This summary also covers documents found that show how the Remembrance Fund is also donor restricted, and how Vestries were warned by audits in the 1990's that these funds were restricted. Finally, the summary exposes how these fund restrictions were suddenly and without explanation redesignated "temporarily" restricted in the audit for 2000, which is the first year the Churchyard Fund was raided for non churchyard purposes.

You may ask yourself how any fund that is around 100 years old could be "temporarily" anything. If you do ask that question, isn't the answer obvious: it's not temporary!
